The Italian ambassador to Libya Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi presented projects supported by Italy and the European Union for the benefit of municipalities in Libya and future projects to be implemented starting February, during a meeting with the Undersecretary for the Ministry of Local Government, Abdulbari Shinbaru.

According to the ministry's statement released on Tuesday, the undersecretary reviewed the efforts made by the ministry to develop mechanisms for working in municipalities and transfering the expertise of developed countries to support municipal councils.

The Italian ambassador stated "his country's keenness to support stability in Libya through the implementation of development programs in a number of remote cities especially south of the country, most notably the agricultural sector and economic recovery".

The two officials agreed to "accelerate the signing of a new agreement to target a number of municipalities in different regions of the country without exception," according to the ministry.
