The Ministry of Interior for Libya’s Government of National Accord issued a statement on Monday, regarding the attack on the headquarters of the National Oil Corporation in which it pledged to deal with "outlaws with the most severe measures."
The ministry said in its statement that it “received a notification, on Monday, November 23, 2020, from the National Oil Corporation, regarding an armed group outside the law attempting to storm the headquarters of the corporation.”
The statement added: “Urgent orders were issued by His Excellency the Minister of Interior for the Government of National Accord for all security agencies and the Tripoli Security Directorate to intervene immediately to protect and secure the headquarters of the National Oil Corporation and to deal with the aggressor group according to the necessary measures and to use force if necessary, and to arrest all those involved in this incident.”
The ministry’s statement said that “as it condemns these demagogic practices and affirms its determination to investigate this incident and to arrest all those involved in its perpetration.”
The ministry concluded its statement by declaring that it “fully carries out its responsibilities and assumes its legal and national duties by securing citizens, state institutions and their headquarters, and that it will deal with outlaws with the most firm and deterrent measures, and we pledge to our honorable Libyan people that we will deter criminality.”
