Fayez Al-Sarraj, head of Libya'sPresidential Council, said that a permanent ceasefire agreement "paves the way for the success of economic and political tracks."
This came in a statement on Friday, where Al-Sarraj praised the role of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya in reaching the agreement.
Al-Sarraj said that he affirms "the building of a modern civil state, there is no turning back and there is no room for militarizing the state." He also called for agreement on a "path that quickly leads to elections," describing it as "a step that will end the legitimacy crisis that has exhausted the country."
He expressed his appreciation for the mission’s efforts to achieve peace based on “justice and on guarantees that keep the specter of war and unrest from the country.”
