On Tuesday, a number of civil society organizations in the municipality of Bani Walid launched an extensive cleaning campaign aimed at removing piles of garbage from the entrances, exits and the city center, with the participation of the transportation office and sports clubs in the city.
The campaign’s media spokesperson, Zayed Abu Qadandish, told Alwasat that the campaign aims to remove garbage and waste from the city entrances, garbage collection places, and a number of streets and main roads in the municipality.
Qadandish added that the campaign, in which government and sports agencies and a large number of civil society organizations participated, aimed at educating citizens about the importance of public hygiene and caring for the environment, to get rid of diseases transmitted due to insects scattered in piles of garbage.
For his part, the director of the cleaning services centers Bani Walid, Fawzi Abu Sita, said that the lack of support and the lack of machinery and equipment that help workers perform their work was the reason for the large accumulation of garbage in the city.
Abu Sita confirmed that the results of the campaign will appear this week, calling on all private companies and businessmen to contribute to the campaign to get rid of all waste, show the city in its proper form and improve its appearance.
The Mayor of the Bani Walid Municipality, Younis Al-Azouzi, and a member of the Municipal Council, Hussein Salama, attended the start of the campaign, with members of the Municipal Guard and the Bani Walid Security Directorate.
The General Company for Cleaning Services Bani Walid called on the residents of the city to cooperate in maintaining the cleanliness of the city, by collecting garbage in bags and putting it in the dumpsites designated for it.
