GNA Interior Ministry considering purchase of Airbus helicopters for search, rescue and border control

The Ministry of Interior for Libya's Government of National Accord is looking into the possibility of contracting with the Airbus company to supply the ministry with a number of aircraft, according to a statement published on Thursday.

The ministry said that a delegation from the Ministry of the Interior visited Airbus and held a series of meetings with company officials to benefit from it in the aviation field, "according to the instructions from Minister of Interior, Fathi Bashagha."

The ministry stated that it is studying the possibility of contracting with the company "to provide the ministry with a number of aircraft for use in search and rescue operations, aid, combating illegal immigration, monitoring coasts and borders, and to increase the capabilities and flying skills of the Libyan police."
