Williams praises Egyptian role in hosting constitutional track meetings, renews call for commitment to Berlin outputs

The Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya Stephanie Williams said, "The existence of a true and comprehensive constitution in Libya defines the features of the state and the rights and duties of individuals is an essential element for the completion of the building of the foundations of the state."

This came in her speech on Sunday, at the opening session of the constitutional track meeting on Libya, which is beingh hosted in Cairo, until October 13th, under the auspices of the United Nations and with the participation of the delegations of the Libyan Parliament and the High Council of State, according to the Middle East News Agency,

Williams, who is the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, added that today's meeting “comes within the framework of the continuous efforts of member states, led by Egypt to push the political track and achieve stability in Libya,” praising“ the results of the democratic dialogue between the Libyan parties during the last period.

The UN official also praised “the Egyptian government's efforts to host the constitutional track meeting on Libya, with the aim of discussing mechanisms to solve the Libyan crisis and the frameworks for the new Libyan constitution.” Williams also called on all countries to “adhere to the outcomes of the Berlin conference as a solution that would achieve stability for the Libyan people."
