The Minister of the Interior for Libya's Government of National Accord, Fathi Bashagha, announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the American company 'K2 Intelligence' in the field of financial integrity and combating terrorist financing," according to a statement.
Bashagha said that the signing of the MOU comes "in the area of our priorities in cooperation," explaining that the priorities "will be in drawing up a national strategy to combat terrorist financing, money laundering and tracking its networks, as well as training, equipping and qualifying a department in the ministry that deals with these matters."
Bashagha added, "This partnership will help us track financial crimes and their networks inside and outside Libya, and will ensure the establishment of secure and reliable systems for exchanging information."
He explained that "this step comes within the framework of the general policy of the Ministry of Interior to combat corruption, and to lay a basis for building departments and sections in the ministry to complete its strategies professionally and efficiently."
On August 10, the Minister of Interior and the Governor of the Central Bank in Tripoli, signed a cooperation agreement in the field of combating corruption, money laundering and terrorist financing.
