The Italian news agency AKI said that the foreign ministers of European Union (EU) member states decided, during their meeting today, in Brussels, to remove the name of the head of the Libyan Parliament, Aguila Saleh, and the former President of the General National Congress, Nouri Abusahmain, from the sanctions list.

The EU's High Representative for Security and Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, also added that the foreign ministers agreed to impose sanctions on two people involved in human rights violations, three Jordanians, a Kazakh and Turkish companies for their involvement in violating the UN resolution banning the supply of arms to Libya.

During a press conference held after the end of the meeting, Borrell stressed the EU's determination to continue to support dialogue in Libya within the framework of the Berlin conference to resolve the conflict in the country.

Borrell noted that removing Saleh and Abusahmain from the sanctions list "proves that we are able to use our sanctions strategically."
