The Airports Authority for Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA) has announced that it will stop providing all services to commercial airlines from Misrata International Airport until further notice, due to the fire that broke out at the passenger terminal on Monday.

In a statement, the authority also announced the resumption of commercial airline flights from Mitiga International Airport starting next Sunday morning, after the completion of maintenance work currently being carried out at the airport, which hinders the operational process at the present time.

As the fire broke out at the departure hall of Misrata International Airport, pictures were circulated on social media of civil defense forces rushing to extinguish it, as it took control of a large part of the hall.
