20 migrants rescued after boat stalls in Mediterranean waters east of Mellitah

The Ministry of Interior for Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA) announced the rescue of twenty migrants after their boat broke down in the Mediterranean about 18 miles east of Mellitah.

The ministry stated that after receiving a distress call, the anti-smuggling and maritime infiltration unit in the Zuwara Naval Operations Office was assigned to rescue the migrant.

The ministry explained that "twenty illegal immigrants of different Arab, African and Asian nationalities have been rescued," and "were transferred to the unit headquarters, provided humanitarian and medical assistance."

Adding: " legal measures were taken against them and work is being done to hand them over to the illegal immigration shelter in Zuwara."
