Di Maio's statement came during a press conference he held upon his arrival in Rome, after his return from the Libyan capital, according to Italian news agency Aki.
Di Maio reiterated that "there is no military solution to the Libyan conflict," stressing that "the only reliable path to ending the conflict in Libya is comprehensive negotiations under the supervision of the United Nations."
During his visit to Tripoli, the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs met with Fayez Al-Sarraj, Ministry of Interior Fathi Bashagha, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Siala and a number of Libyan officials.
