Egypt's Sisi stresses need for ceasefire and dismantling militias in Libya

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi discussed developments in Libya during a ministerial meeting on Wednesday. “Sisi directed the pursuit of the goal of restoring the Libyan state and its institutions to impose security, stability and preserve the capabilities of the brotherly Libyan people, as well as to safeguard the Egyptian national security," according to a statement.

The official spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency said that Sisi "affirmed the Egyptian position regarding containing the crisis in Libya by establishing a ceasefire and putting in place the necessary guarantees for it, in addition to dismantling the militias and removing the mercenaries from the equation of the conflict and opening the horizons for a comprehensive political solution."

The ministerial meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, the Ministers of Defense and Military Production, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Water Resources and Irrigation, Justice, Finance and Interior, in addition to the Head of the General Intelligence and the Head of the Administrative Control Authority.
