The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia renewed its welcome of the Egyptian initiative to solve the Libyan crisis and supported the call for a ceasefire, as it welcomed the international efforts calling for an end to the fighting and a return to the political track, during a meeting of the Saudi Council of Ministers headed by King Salman bin Abdulaziz on Tuesday

Minister of Information, Dr. Majid Al-Qasbi, was quoted as saying in a statement that the council “urged all Libyan parties to give priority to the national interest and to start urgent and comprehensive political negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations, to ensure the return of security and stability to Libya, to preserve its territorial integrity, safety and protection from external interference.”

On Saturday, Saudi Arabia announced support for Egyptian efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis with the “Cairo Declaration”.
