The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Minister Sergey Lavrov held a conversation with the Speaker of Libya's parliament, Aguila Saleh, during which they stressed "the need to start a constructive dialogue with the participation of all Libyan political forces."

The two sides discussed developments on the military and political arenas in Libya, where they confirmed that "there is no military solution to the Libyan crisis," according to the ministry's statement, which was quoted by the news agency Sputnik on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart called for "the immediate cessation of hostilities in Libya" and the resumption of the political process under the auspices of the United Nations, with the necessary participation of the Libyan parties.
