The Kufra Military Region announced the confiscation of a number of vehicles by the 604 infantry brigade before they were smuggled into Sudan.

They noted that the drivers have been arrested and that patrols are sweeping the country's southern borders, according to a statement carried by the Libyan News Agency in Benghazi on Wednesday.

The Kufra Military Region added that the combing operation comes as they implement instructions to close the southern borders with the neighboring countries of Sudan, Chad, Egypt, in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Last Thursday, the Benghazi Security Directorate announced the arrest of seven Sudanese nationals "intending to smuggle cars into their country." The Criminal Investigation Department says the individual were not carrying identification documents and admitted that they were smuggling cars to Sudan.
