Stephanie Williams, the acting envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya, considered that the control of Government National Accord (GNA) forces over the Al-Watiya base southwest of Tripoli “may lead to an additional escalation of the war.”

This was stated in Williams' briefing on Tuesday to the UN Security Council on developments in Libya.

In her briefing, Williams called for an end to attacks against civilians and civilian facilities in Libya, reiterating the call for a comprehensive ceasefire in the country. Noting that since the war in Tripoli began, 200,000 Libyans have been forced to flee their homes.
