82 inmates released in Tripoli as part of the emergency plan to combat coronavirus

The head of the Judicial Police branch in Tripoli, Brigadier Abdel-Ghani Al-Harati, announced the release of 82 inmates from the Reform and Rehabilitation Institution prison.

The release of these inmates comes within the procedures of the emergency plan to combat the emerging coronavirus, according to a statement issued on Wednesday.

The Judicial Police is seeking to reduce overcrowding in institutions and the statement noted that medical examinations of these inmates would be made through the institution's health care unit.

Tthe Judicial Police had previously taken a decision to release 70 prisoners who were "arrested in connection with cases such as drugs and drinking," to reducing congestion in prisons.
