UN mission calls for an end to the "military escalation" in Libya

On Wednesday, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya called for "an end to the escalation, hostilities, the build-up of forces and the flow of weapons and foreign fighters" to Libya.

"As the whole world engages in fighting the spread of the coronavirus epidemic that has exhausted a number of resource-rich countries, attacks and counterattacks in Libya continue to cause more suffering and civilian casualties," the mission said, adding that Libyans need to shift their focus to the battle against the virus. .

The mission reminded all parties to the conflict in Libya of their obligations in accordance with international humanitarian law and international human rights law to ensure the protection of civilians.
