Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio said that he reiterated during his meeting with Marshal Khalifa Haftar on Thursday that "Italy does not accept any external interference" in the Libyan crisis.
Di Maio who met with Marshal Haftar in Benghazi, also stressed that "we must work hard to achieve a permanent cease-fire, in Libya," according to the AKI news agency.
The Italian Foreign Minister also announced that he will be in Munich on Sunday to attend the ministerial conference as a follow-up to the Berlin conference on Libya.
Di Maio also noted that next week, he will hiold meetings in Rome with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.
"We seek to take the path of dialogue and diplomacy in Libya," he added. Because "in Libya, the response cannot be military in any way, and it cannot be through weapons or bombing, the way forward must be though dialogue and diplomacy without a doubt."
He continued: We are working concretely to ensure that this road is taken by both sides, and it is necessary for us that the results of the Berlin Conference be respected."
