GNA Interior Minister Bashagha receives an official invitation to visit France

The Director of the North African and Middle East Department at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Christophe Farnaud, invited the Minister of Interior for Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA), Fathi Bashagha, for an official visit to France, to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

The French embassy in Libya said Tuesday, that Bashagha is scheduled to discuss, "supporting efforts for peace, combating terrorism and disarming militias that threaten state unity and democracy," during the visit.

On Monday, Bashagha met a French delegation that included Farnaud, the French Ambassador to Libya, the director of the North African division Silvan Fourier, and a number of members of the diplomatic corps of the French embassy and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting, which was held at the French embassy in Tunis, discussed a number of political and security issues related to the field of combating terrorism, organized crime and illegal immigration, as well as discussing the outcomes of the Berlin conference held on January 19.
