The expectation that the issue (the Libyan crisis) will end quickly is not on anyone's agenda," said European Parliament President David Sassoli, noting that "the Berlin process is continuing, we are in the midst of negotiations... we are all working for the armistice to be achieved in Berlin and to be strong."

In comments made on the sidelines of a press conference in Strasbourg, Sassoli added that there is now a great commitment on the first step, which is a strong truce: "If this option is not acheived, it will be difficult to find initiatives capable of promoting peace and starting a negotiation process."

He added, "It seems that everything is going in this direction, because the European Union launched the idea of a truce, and many players adopted it," noting that Turkey and Russia are pushing for this to happen.

He also pointed out that, "European diplomacy and the parties involved in the Libyan conflict are moving in the same direction, and I suspect that the two conflicting parties should take note of this and listen to the call of the citizens who are asking for peace."
