Egyptian-Italian agreement to intensify efforts to support a comprehensive settlement of the Libyan crisis

The Egyptian presidency announced an Egyptian-Italian agreement to intensify joint efforts between the two countries to support the endeavors of a comprehensive political settlement to the Libyan crisis, according to a statement by presidential spokesman, Ambassador Bassam Radi.

This came during the reception by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in the Federal Palace in Cairo today, of Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and developments in Libya.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that "the meeting dealt with discussions on the Libyan crisis, in light of the imminence of the Berlin conference on Libya, where it was agreed on intensifying joint efforts to support the efforts of the political settlement to reach a comprehensive solution to the issue, in a way that restores stability in Libya. Supports its capabilities, institutions and preserves its territorial integrity, sovereignty, and protects its resources.”
