In a three-hour meeting, Libya's Interim Government Foreign Minister, Abdel Hadi Al-Hweij, discussed with the agreement recently signed by the Government of National Accord and Turkey with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.

A statement said that the meeting held on Saturday, at the invitation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stressed that "Libyans rejected this agreement, and showcased Libyan Interim Government's vision for the post-liberation phase of Tripoli."

The Foreign Minister stressed that "Libyans have the right to live on their land with a single, unified and strong government, in security and stability, and with a national army that protects the constitution, borders and safeguards the dignity of citizens."

The meeting also touched on "ways to develop bilateral cooperation by establishing a Libyan-Russian economic forum, inviting Russian companies to participate in the reconstruction of Libyan cities, and calling for the reopening of the Russian Federation's consulate in Benghazi," as well as a discussion of benefiting from Russian experiences in the field of agriculture, housing and utilities, while resuming work on the railway linking Sirte and Benghazi.
