A delegation from the Chinese company specialized in the energy sector visited the Gulf Steam Power Plant in Sirte at the invitation of management at the General Electricity Company.
The construction and equipping of the plant has been suspended since 2014, where the completion rate has not exceed 67%, while the cost of the project is about one billion and seven hundred thousand dinars, and is supposed to consist of four units, each producing 350 megawatts per day, a total capacity of 1400 megawatts when Completed.
Sirte Municipal Council spokesman Mohammed Al-Amil said the delegation included Chinese engineers and officials from the company's general administration.
Al-Amil noted that the Chinese delegation toured the station and was briefed on the first unit, which is currently operating with good production capacity.
He pointed out that the purpose of the visit is to discuss the use of Chinese expertise to complete the second unit before the middle of next year.
