US Assistant Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs David Schenker and US Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, on Monday hosted the ambassadors from Britain, Germany and France to Libya.

The US embassy in Libya said on its Twitter account that Schenker's meeting with the four ambassadors was "part of the ongoing international efforts to stop the fighting in Tripoli and urged a swift return to the UN-brokered political process."

US Assistant Secretary of State David Schenker met on Saturday with the United Nations envoy and the head of its support mission in Libya, Ghassan Salamé, at the headquarters of the US diplomatic mission, which is working temporarily from Tunisia.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya said that the meeting between Salamé and Schenker "touched on the current situation and the regional and international developments related to Libya."
