French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said there's an "urgent need for an international conference on Libya" to find a political solution to the crisis.

"There will be no military victory" in the crisis, Europe's Channel 1 has quoted Le Drian as saying.

At their recent summit in France, the Group of Seven nations called for an international conference involving all international and regional actors in the Libyan crisis.

On August 28, the French newspaper L'Opinion revealed that President Emmanuel Macron admitted for the first time during the G7 summit of "an agreement to stop fighting with each other by proxy on Libyan territory."
