The bombing of airports near the capital Tripoli is a "real disaster and threatens the lives of civilians," Ghassan Salamé, the head of the UN mission in Libya, said, referring to the shelling that targeted the airports of Mitiga east of the capital and Zuwara to the west of the country.

In a regular briefing on developments in Libya, Salamé called on the Security Council to condemn such indiscriminate shelling, pointing out that 100 civilians were killed in the war in Tripoli since April 4.
