30 migrants rescued north of Sorman

A coast guard patrol rescued 30 illegal immigrants aboard boat in the Mediterranean about 22 miles north of the western Libyan town of Sorman, the Libyan navy said on Thursday.

The Marine Information Office said on its Facebook page that the rescue operation was carried out by a patrol from Zawia belonging to the Western Coast Guard sector on Tuesday, pointing out that the rescued migrants included 25 Egyptians and 5 Sudanese nationals.

The Information Office confirmed that the migrants were handed over to the Al-Nasr Center for the Prevention of Illegal Immigration in Zawiya after they were provided with humanitarian and medical assistance.
