Libya is ranked 162nd in the 2019 World Press Freedom Index, published by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) on Tuesday.
Scandinavian countries ranked first with Norway, followed by Finland and Sweden, while the United States ranked 48th, Israel 88th, and Turkey 157th.
As Arab countries, Comoros recorded the best position at 56, followed by Tunisia at 72, Mauritania at 94 and Lebanon at 101. Followed by Bahrain (167), Yemen (168), Saudi Arabia (172), Djibouti, Syria and Sudan (173, 174 and 175 respectively).
Reporters Without Borders annually publishes the World Press Freedom Classification, which deals with the dangers faced by reporters in completing their work and if governments facilitate a safe enviornment for the work.
