An aid shipment and 10 million dinars in cash arrived in the city of Ghat in southwestern Libya, which has been hit by floods in recent days, the Interior Ministry announced Tuesday.

The Ministry of the Interior, through its Facebook page, published pictures of the shipment of aid and cash on an Afriqiyah Airways plane which took off from Tripoli's Mitiga Airport.

The ministry said that this shipment comes as "assistance to the city of Ghat by the Government of National Accord under the supervision of the Ministry of the Interior" and "to alleviate the suffering of the people and residents of the city of Ghat affected by the floods."

Floods and torrential rains in the past few days have displaced more than 2,000 people from their homes, causing severe damage to public and private property, while cutting off communications and electricity.
