Ghassan Salamé discusses ways to stop escalation in Libya with German Foreign Minister

The United Nations envoy to Libya Ghassan Salamé met with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas to discuss ways to stop the escalation in Libya.

A statement by the UN Mission added that envoy Salamé expressed "appreciation for Germany's support for the efforts of the United Nations to find a political solution to the crisis in Libya."

Earlier, Ghassan Salamé held talks with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg at NATO headquarters and briefed him on the situation in Libya.

The meeting of the Council of Foreign Affairs of the European Union is scheduled to be held later on Monday, during which the UN envoy will brief Member States on developments in Libya.
