"I can confirm the killing of two of the most dangerous terrorists in Derna, including the al-Qaeda chief in eastern Libya," said Brigadier General Ahmad Al-Mismari, the spokesman for the Libyan National Army's General Command.
The military spokesman told a news conference in Benghazi on Wednesday that "the army forces managed to kill the terrorist Omar Juma al-Sha'ali and the terrorist Mohammed al-Tashani."
"Omar Jumaa al-Sha'ali is the most dangerous terrorist and al-Qaeda leader in the east of Libya. He has two brothers, Saleh and Adel, who traveled to Iraq and joined al-Qaeda there. The first was killed in the battles in Iraq and the second was executed by the Iraqi government."
Al-Mismari pointed out that "Omar Juma al-Sha'ali and elements of the Ansar al-Sharia organization were the ones who kidnapped and killed the Iraqi doctor Hamid Khalaf al-Saadi in Derna."
Al-Mismari pointed out that "Al-Sha'ali is linked to a number of other terrorists, including Nasser Ali Al-Ajhar Al-Shaheri and Abdul Hakim Al-Alaki, and facilitated the movement of extremists from Iraq and Syria."
