The Libyan army coordinates directly with the Niger and Chad to confront "gangs" and al-Qaeda elements in the Libyan south, the spokesman for the Libyan National Army, Brigadier-General Ahmad al-Mismari said.

Al-Mismari, in an interview with Al-Hadath satellite channel added that the people of the south support the army in its war against the gangs, stressing that the army does not enter any area except with the popular support of the people.

On the coordination between the army and the neighboring countries, Al-Mismari said that "coordination exists with Niger and Chad directly," adding that Tunisia, Egypt and Algeria have border guard forces.
