The Spanish government condemned the closure of the Sharara oil field by an armed groupm demanded the reopening of facilities and that they be placed at the disposal of the National Oil Corporation.
The Spanish government stressed in a statement published on Wednesday that oil is the resource of the entire Libyan people and its management belongs to the National Oil Corporation under the legitimacy of the Government of National Accord. Adding that lowering production puts Libya's economic situation at risk.
Members of the 30th Infantry Regiment, under Ali Husseini, closed the oil field last Saturday.
The Chairman of the National Oil Corporation Mustafa Sanalla described the forced closure as a terrorist act.
