Libyan Navy rescues 199 migrants north of Khoms

A total of 199 migrants, including 179 men, 16 women and four children, were rescued on board a rubber boat said Libyan naval spokesman Brigadier Ayoub Qasem on Wednesday.

In a statement he said that a Coast Guard partol was able to save the migrants about 37 miles off the city of Khoms.

He pointed out that most migrants were of different  Sub-Saharan African nationalities, as well as migrants from Egypt, Yemen, Sudan, Syria, Algeria, as well as from Bangladesh.

He confirmed that after the humanitarian and medical assistant they were transfered over to the illegal immigration control center in Tajoura.
