Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, will meet with the head of Libya's Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, on Friday according to the Italian news agency Aki.
In his speech at the Italian-African Ministerial Conference being held at Foreign Ministry, Conte pointed out that "the security of Africa is our security, this is not just a talk, but a reality."
"From this perspective, we have pushed our commitment to the stability of Libya with a decision to host a conference in Palermo on November 12 and 13, which sets a fundamental goal of reaffirming the solidarity of the international community in the political process led by the United Nations."
He pointed out that the Palermo conference "is a conference for Libya, and also with Libya, because we believe that can not reach a sustainable solution, without the full commitment by the Libyan people and it institutions."
Over the past few days, the Italian government has intensified its contacts and statements on the call for an international conference on Libya, announcing that Marshal Khalifa Haftar, who will visit Rome next week, has agreed to participate in the conference.
