The commander Libya's armed forces, Marshal Khalifa Haftar, will visit Rome next week to meet with Italian officials ahead of his participation in the international conference on Libya, Italian news agency Aki reported.
Italian foreign minister, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, said that Marshal Haftar has expressed the desire to participate in the Palermo International Conference on the Libyan crisis, which will be held on 12-13 November.
"We are talking to Marshal Haftar. He has given us several assurances of his desire to attend the conference," Milanesi told reporters on Thursday on the sidelines of the Italian-African Ministerial Conference in Rome.
Over the past few days, the Italian government has intensified its contacts and statements on the international conference for Libya, which is planned for the November 12-13 in Palermo, Sicily.
