The commander of Tobruk naval base, Maj. Gen. Naji Boualiwa, confirmed the detention of an Egyptian fishing boat off the coast of Derna, early Wednesday, in addition to two Italian fishing boats announced earlier today.

Boualiwa tells Alwasat that the Italian boats had 13 crew members onboard while the Egyptian had 10.

"These boats were towed to Susa point after they penetrated Libyan territorial waters," said Boualiwa, without giving further details.

According to the Italian reports, the Libyan patrol boat opened fire on one of the fishing boats, without any warning, and seized the ship about 29 miles from the shores of Derna.
