The spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dimitri Peskov, said on Monday that Putin's program does not include participation in the Libya conference in Palermo, Sicily, scheduled for mid-November "at the moment."
The statement came after Italian Foreign Minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi announced an invitation to the Russian leader during his visit to Moscow.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Italian invitation arrived in fact only two days ago, and there hasn't been time to discuss the conference. "Once we know what is needed to prepare for the conference, we will decide out level of participation," he added.
Italian Foreign Minister Milanesi announced that the conference on Libya will be held on November 12th and 13th in Sicily.
