The Libyan Special Forces announced on Tuesday that they returned to the city of Benghazi after completing their mission in Derna.
A statement was released on the Special Forces official Facebook page saying they had withdrawn from Derna "After completing its mission to the fullest, with minimum losses while crushing stray terrorist groups in Derna."
Adding: "The Special forces returned to their base in Benghazi where they will continue the healing of the city with God's help."
On May 19, Major General Wanis Boukhamada launched the "Martyr Ali Al-Dirnawi" operation to take control of Wadi Jaram, 18 kilometers southwest of Derna, one of the strongholds of the Ansar al-Sharia terror group.
Boukhmada confirmed on June 3rd that the mission of the special forces in Derna is to control the valleys and highlands overlooking the city of Derna and secure the surrounding area for army forces.
