Presidential Council member, Dr. Mohamed Amari Zayed, met with the European Union Ambassador to Libya, Bettina Muscheidt, on Monday. He called for the EU to cooperate with the international community to "lift the siege" on Derna.
A statement issued by the Communications and Information Department of the Council of Ministers said that the meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office dealt with the political and security issues in the country and the steps taken to amend the political agreement.
The ambassador expressed concern about the developments in the south and threats to the security of Libya and the safety of citizens. Amari expressed his "condemnation of the siege imposed on the city of Derna, the resulting suffering of civilians and the prevention of displaced persons from returning to the city." He asked the ambassador to coordinate with the international community to lift the siege.
