Salem El Obeidi, Benghazi- The Central security room in Benghazi arrested a man who opened fire in front of a Bank in the Shibna district, east of Benghazi, after he wounded five civilians, including three women and an elderly man.
Military and security sources told Al-Wasat that a patrol team was close to the scene, and were able to respond immediately after receiving the report of a shooting via radio. The suspected gunman was apprehended at the scene and handed him over to the authorities.
An armed man in military uniform fired bullets indiscriminately in front of Al-Gomhouria Bank, the city's branch in the area, causing injuries Monday morning.
Witnesses told Al-Wasat that at least three people were shot, including women, before the wounded were taken to hospital.
The sources explained that the gunman tried to cut in line at the bank, and when citizens asked him to wait at the end of the line, he became enraged began firing random bullets.
He added that all the injured were transferred to a local hospital for treatment and in some cases surgery.
In another shooting incident, the General Investigation Unit of the Benghazi Security Directorate on Monday arrested a military man who opened fire in front of Al Wahda Bank, Ruwaisat branch in the city of Benghazi.
