The city of Ajdabiya (160 km west of the city of Benghazi) on Friday, witnessed a heavy deployment of security and military personnel, as part of a plan aimed at securing mosques located within the city to prevent any violations or attacks that may occur.

The move comes after a series of terrorist attacks targeting the mosques of Al-Radwan and Saad bin Abada in the city of Benghazi in months past, which killed dozens of civilians and wounded hundreds more.

During Friday prayers, security and military personel of the city closed the main streets leading to the mosques to prevent cars from entering, in order to ensure the safety of the worshipers.

The security operations room of Ajdabiya, as well as the 21st infantry and 519 infantry Battalions of the Libyan Armed Forces, were deployed to secure the mosques.
