Supreme Judiciary Council issues a decree to release 54 prisoners amid COVID-19 concerns

The Ministry of Justice for Libya's Government of National Accord said on Tuesday that 54 prisoners will be released due to fears about the spread of COVID-19.

The Supreme Judiciary Council decided to release 54 convicted inmates inside the reform and rehabilitation institutions in Tripoli over COVID-19 concerns, the ministry said in a statement.

According to the Libyan National Center for Disease Control, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Libya so far is 19,583, including 2,247 recoveries and 314 deaths.
