47 new coronavirus cases recorded in Libya, active cases rise over 1,000

Libya's National Center for Disease Control announced the registration of 47 new coronavirus cases after testing 629 samples from laboratories in Tripoli, Sebha, Misrata and Zliten on Friday. The total number of active cases rose to 1,011.

The center said in a statement on Saturday that it received 474 samples from the Community Health Reference Laboratory in Tripoli, 68 samples from the center's laboratory in Sebha, 8 samples from Misrata, and 79 samples from Zliten.

The total number of confirmed cases currently stands at 1389, with 340 recoveries and 38 deaths since the first case appeared in March.
