The Ports and Maritime Transport Authority in Libya's eastern region announced it would allow commercial vessels flying the Turkish flag into its ports, in accordance with the legal procedures and legislation.

This was stated in a letter from the director of the Department, Hussein Al-Shara, to managers in the Ports and Maritime Transport Authority, the board of directors of the Libyan Ports Company and the Libyan Chamber of Navigation in the eastern region.

The letter called for the necessary measures to be taken to circulate this guidance to all port managers and shipping agents.

That action came after the Navy Chief of Staff issued a letter saying that "commercial vessels flying the Turkish flag" would no longer be barred from entering ports in the eastern region.
