Libyan National Army Commander, Marshal Khalifa Haftar, announced the resumption of oil production and exports "on condition that it not be used in financing terrorism."
Haftar revealed that "it was decided to resume production and export of oil with all the necessary conditions and procedural measures that ensure a fair distribution of its financial revenues, and not to employ them to support terrorism or to be exposed to robbery and looting, as guarantees for the continuation of production and export operations, to ensure that this leads to improving the standard of living of citizens." according to his speech in a televised address on Friday.
On Thursday, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) confirmed that force majeure could not be raised "under current circumstances."
Mustafa Sanallah, Chairman of the NOC, said "we have more than fifty tanks filled with hundreds of thousands of tons of highly flammable and explosive hydrocarbon materials, and we have foreign mercenaries inside these facilities, force majeure cannot be raised in the presence of these foreign mercenaries."
