The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC), Mustafa Sanallah, discussed renewable energies and studies that had been carried out on the solar energy project in the Sharara oil field with the Libyan branch general manager of the Spanish company Repsol.

The NOC said in a statement that a meeting was held between Sanallah and Simone Sciamanna at its headquarters in Tripoli, in the presence of a member of the Board of Directors for Exploration and Production, Abul-Qasim Shanqir, during which means of joint cooperation between the two sides were discussed, with a focus on "the implementation of the potential studies that help improve productivity and preserve oil deposits."

The meeting also dealt with "strategic projects that the NOC and Repsol are studying, the most important of which is the Renewable Energies Study Project", noting that Sciamanna presented a brief explanation of what had been implemented on the solar energy project in the Sharara oil field, as well as listening to the "NOC's directives in this aspect."
