Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced on Saturday that the total losses from sales opportunities as a result of the closure of oil facilities amounted to $8.36 billion since January.

The NOC said that these closures are the cause of electricity blackouts and financial losses, stressing the need to open oil ports and resume production.

In a statement last Wednesday, the NOC warned of "the imminent halt of the natural gas supply that feeds Zueitina and North Benghazi power stations."Adding that the closures "are exclusively responsible for the power cuts and the increase in power cuts which will reach the eastern region in the coming days."
