Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed on Tuesday, "the ultimate goal of our efforts in Libya should be to restore the state and its sovereignty," noting that there are commonalities between Moscow and Berlin in this regard, according to the Russian news agency Sputnik.

"We also have a common interest in resolving the situation in Libya," Lavrov said during a joint press conference held with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas in Moscow.

Lavrov added: "We reaffirm the common denominators between Russia and Germany's approaches with regard to a political solution to this conflict on the basis of the principles contained in the final documents of the Berlin conference that were affirmed by the UN Security Council resolution."

"We proceed from the premise that the ultimate goal of all our efforts must be to restore the state's sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Libya, which was flagrantly violated as a result of the" NATO "adventure in 2011 in violation of the UN Security Council resolution.
